The event included a variety of speakers who provided information on how to make affordable housing more energy efficient and sustainable for those living on low to moderate incomes.
Speaking about what “green” affordable housing is and what’s currently happening with green affordable housing were Charles Rothenberger of CT Fund for the Environment (www.cfenv.org), Dara Kovel of Jonathan Rose Companies (www.rosecompanies.com), and Doug Foy of Serrafix (www.serrafix.com).
The speakers were followed by a panel discussion that focused on how Connecticut can encourage more green affordable housing. The panel discussion was moderated by State Representative Steve Fontana, Chair of the General Assembly's Energy and Technology Committee. Panelists included Eric Anderson of Urban Green Builders (www.urbangreenbuilders.com), Pat Spring of the CT Housing Coalition (www.ct-housing.org), George Rafael of the Homebuilders Association of CT (www.hbact.org), Mark Hirsh, CT Housing Finance Authority (www.chfa.org), and Devon Bertram of YRG Sustainability Consultants (www.yrgconsultants.com).
